2018 ISAHU Carol Cutter Memorial Golf Outing a Great Event!

With over 70 participants, the eighth annual ISAHU Carol Cutter Memorial Golf Outing was held on Monday, July 30th, at The Legends Golf Club, near Franklin, Indiana.  In addition to having a new venue for the event, it was also held the day before the annual ISAHU State Convention, which took place just a few miles north in Greenwood.  The hope in changing the location and combining it with the State Convention was that more people would attend; that seemed to work, as the attendance increased by about fifty percent over last year’s outing!  Unfortunately, the day of golf ended early as Mother Nature decided to bring rain into the picture.  However, I believe that everyone just made the most of it and had a good time!

As a reminder, the purpose of this event is, first and foremost, to remember and honor our dear friend, Carol Cutter.  If that’s the only thing we did, the event should continue on for a LONG time!  However, that’s not the only reason we do it.  We raise money for two things – Carol’s church, and to provide scholarships to first-time attendees to the NAHU Capitol Conference each year.  The first year or two we were only able to provide one scholarship; this past year we were in a position to offer five!  As I have chaired or co-chaired, the event the past seven years, my personal goal has always been to be successful enough to offer one scholarship to each of our seven local chapters.  I don’t know the financial outcome of this year’s outing, but certainly hope we will come close to that goal!

Obviously, we could not have such an event without the support of our generous sponsors and volunteers.  The following entities, in no particular order, made this event possible through their sponsorships:

  • Comprehensive Benefits Inc.
  • Anthem
  • Rx Help Centers
  • Argus Dental and Hoosier Dental Plans
  • Health Resources, Inc.
  • Bose Public Affairs
  • APPS Paramedical Services
  • Physcians Health Plans
  • Gordon Marketing
  • Humana
  • Tokio Marine HCC
  •  SCIAHU
  • Midwest Insurance Marketers
  • Encore Health Network
  • IMA Trust
  • IAHU
  • Witches of Eastwick
  • GNIAHU
  •  GBAHU
  • NEIAHU
  • SWIAHU
  • RE Sutton & Associates/Brown & Brown
  • Zeller Insurance
  • SIHO

As you can imagine, there’s a lot of planning that goes into having any successful event, and a golf outing is no different in that respect.  This year’s planning committee consisted of Doug Skinner, Chandra Coffee, Brian Beall, Don Griffey, Jeff Goodwin and Nicole Fairbairn. Each of these members are to be congratulated, and thanked, for their efforts!  However, all the planning in the world won’t do any good if you don’t have people in place to execute the plan.  Since almost all of the planning committee members also played in the outing, we were blessed to have a great group of volunteers doing various tasks on the day of the outing.  That group consisted of Nicole Fairbairn, Susan Denzio (Carol’s daughter,) Anita Strauss, Keyanna Warren,

Belinda Johnson, Jill Dear, Natalie Bunnell, Denny Wright and Cheryl Terry. Thanks to each of these great volunteers!

If you played in this year’s outing I hope you enjoyed it and will come back in the future!  If you didn’t play, you missed a fun event, so please plan on being there next year. While a date and location has not yet been determined at this time, look for that information soon.  Thanks for being a member of ISAHU!
