How much NAHU dues can be deducted for the 2019 tax year?

As NAHU members start to prepare their 2019 tax returns, this question always comes up: “what portion of my NAHU dues are tax-deductible as a normal business expense?” Per IRS regulations, membership dues that go towards lobbying expenses are not tax-deductible, so for the 2019 tax year the following amount of your NAHU dues is tax-deductible:

  • 100% of local chapter dues:  $45
  • 10% of state chapter dues:  $10
  • 75% of national dues:  $247.50

Total amount of NAHU dues that are deductible for 2019: $302.50
