Last summer, ISAHU President Don Griffey asked me to form a Governance Committee for the purpose of reviewing and making recommendations to the ISAHU board of directors on all of the ISAHU policies & procedures (P&Ps) as well as the ISAHU by-laws. ISAHU President-Elect Jeff Goodwin, ISAHU Communications Chair Amber Frey, and most recent ISAHU Member of the Year Andrea Bogard were asked to serve on this committee. All agreed to serve and the committee started their work in September.
Many of the ISAHU P&Ps have expired, so the committee decided to prioritize those that had passed their expiration first. So far, the committee has reviewed and submitted our recommendations to the ISAHU board of directors on the first six existing ISAHU P&Ps plus one new P&P (#11) proposed by the ISAHU communications chair and ISAHU technology chair regarding guidelines and standards for ISAHU marketing and communications materials. The committee is evaluating the policies for relevance, accuracy, and sustainability. As of the date this was written, the ISAHU board has voted and approved P&Ps #1, 2, 3 and 11, plus is expected to act on P&P’s #4, 5, and 6 in January of 2019.
The committee plans to finish up the remaining four P&Ps by the end of January and then tackle a review of the ISAHU by-laws with the goal of finishing up the committee’s work by early spring. My thanks and sincere appreciation to Jeff, Amber and Andrea for volunteering to serve on the Governance Committee.
If you’d like a copy of the current P&P’s, feel free to contact any ISAHU Board Member.
