Good news from The Energy & Commerce Committee: HR2564, “Medicare Enrollment Protection Act”, passes. This creates a special Medicare enrollment period while in COBRA. And exempts individuals from certain monthly increases associated with delaying Medicare coverage.

Medicare Summit Coming in April 2015

By Bill Robinson

I am pleased to announce that ISAHU will be sponsoring a “first time” event this coming April for the sole purpose of providing our members the latest information with respect to Medicare. Whether you are a seasoned veteran,, a newcomer, or just someone who would like to know more about this market, this is a MUST ATTEND event! While the details aren’t all in place just yet, rest assured that this will be a great investment of your time. At this point, the target date is Tuesday, April 7th, and it will be a full day packed with speakers, CE, and exhibitors. We have not established the location yet, but it will be held somewhere in the Indianapolis area.

Depending on who you listen to, there are somewhere between five and ten thousand people turning 65 every day in this great country! Suffice it to say, they are all in need of a competent insurance professional to help them with their insurance needs. I don’t know about you, but that sounds like a tremendous market opportunity to me! For those of you who are pulling your hair out right now with ACA open enrollment, this will be an opportunity to learn how to start transitioning to a new and different market. For those of you who already specialize in this area, we will provide you with the latest trends in the market, both from a Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage perspective.

One of the concerns I’ve heard over the years is that NAHU, and consequently ISAHU, doesn’t offer much to the agent who works in the Medicare market, be that their sole specialty or just a part of their business. In planning this event, we hope this will be the first step here in Indiana in addressing those concerns and another way of helping our members become more successful in serving their clients’ needs. We hope to see you in April!
