One of my first articles posted regarding the NAHU Education Foundation was related to the resources available through the Mental Health Corner. I felt during these stressful times I should provide you with a reminder. If you go to the website for the NAHU Education Foundation at: www.nahueducationfoundation.org click on the link titled Mental Health Corner. The link will open up additional links which offers access to the Crisis Hotline link and provides the hotline number 1-800-273-TALK (8255). By clicking on that link, you are taken to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline which offers 24/7 free and confidential support. In addition, you will find specific links regarding:
- Coping During Community Unrest
- Emotional Wellbeing During the COVID-19 Outbreak
- Youth
- Disaster Survivors
- Native Americans
- Veterans
- Loss Survivors
- LGBTQ+
- Attempt Survivors
- Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Hearing Loss
- Available stories of hope and recovery
- Explanations on what happens when you call the Lifeline
- Frequently Asked Questions
- Link to chat with Lifeline
In July of this year Congress approved the adoption of 988, the new three-digit number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline to be completed by July 2022. However, in the meantime, please continue to share 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
