Greetings from the ISAHU President – the last few days of July were great days for ISAHU members. On July 29th the 9th annual Carol Cutter Memorial outing was held for dozens of members and sponsors at the Legends in Franklin. In spite of a “weather event” (the 1st and only rain in several days or for several days thereafter) all of the foursomes were able to play all but a few holes. Several thousand dollars were raised for scholarships to be awarded to first time attendees for NAHU’s Capitol Conference to be held in Washington DC from February 24, 2020 thru February 26, 2020. Should any current ISAHU member that has not previously attended Capitol Conference be interested in attending in 2020 please send me an email and I will make sure you receive an application. All applications are reviewed and either approved or denied by the ISAHU Board of Directors.
On July 30th the annual ISAHU State Convention was held at The Nest in Greenwood, IN and attended by nearly 150 people. Five subject matter expert speakers provided five (5) hours of Continuing Education for those attendees taking advantage of the speakers unique perspective on the health insurance world. Congresswoman Rep. Jackie Walorski from Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District briefly spoke about her agenda in Washington DC and presented ISAHU Past President Don Griffey with an American flag that had flown over our nation’s capitol. The theme of the convention was to honor all women ISAHU members and recognize their incredible efforts on behalf of all ISAHU members.
A few days after the convention an ISAHU delegation attended NAHU’s Region 3 Leadership Conference in Louisville, KY. The conference was conducted over two and a half days and provided attendees with all kinds of useful information as to how NAHU and ISAHU can best serve ISAHU members. All ISAHU members are invited to attend Regional as well as NAHU national meetings. The tentative plan for the next Region 3 meeting is be held on Saturday June 27, 2020 on the first day the NAHU national meeting. The national meeting will start on June 27th and adjourn on June 30th, 2020. The location for the meeting will be the Hyatt Regency in downtown Chicago. As June 30th will be the last day of ISAHU’s own Pat Griffey as NAHU’s national President I would like to see a record turn-out of ISAHU members at the 2020 national convention so please circle on your calendar those last days of June to be in Chicago to honor one of our own and set an example for the rest of the country for how Hoosiers appreciate the hard work and success of our leaders. Thanks for being a member and be sure to recruit new members whenever you have the opportunity!
