Meeting in Review
Tom Gant, President SWIAHU
Local NAHU Chapter SWIAHU hosted Senator Mike Braun as our speaker on July 12th. For all of you who attended, I hope you felt the value of having our newest Senator share his perspective as a successful business owner and as a setting Senator. Senator Braun gave his perspective of the current health insurance status and his belief the insurance companies must take on a large role in saving the employer-based delivery system.
I would like to personally thank the members and their guests for making time in their schedules to attend this special event. Your local Chapter is working in partnership with our national leaders at NAHU and our ISAHU leaders to build a relationship with Senator Braun’s office. As a new member of the Senate, we can be a great resource to him and he can be a great ally for us. As I write this, NAHU has reached out to our chapter to work with the Senator’s office and provide information on the repeal of the Cadillac Tax. As a result of the collaborative efforts of NAHU and SWIAHU, Senator Braun has a better understanding of the effects the Cadillac Tax would have on the employers and employees.
The SWIAHU board works hard and sacrifices their time to provide the membership valuable speakers for our Chapter meetings. I applaud them for being able to coordinate a high profile speaker as Senator Braun. It is disappointing when so many of the members don’t attend and miss out on this caliber of a meeting.
In closing I want to thank Senator Braun and his staff for working out his schedule so he could join us. I want to thank our board members, especially Tina Hazelip and the Deaconess Orthopedic Neurological Hospital, for hosting our breakfast with the Senator.
Mark you calendar for two upcoming events. August 27, 2019 CE Day with a Medicare emphasis. You can listen to 4 great speakers and gain 4 CE credits. September 26th is our annual golf outing which is at a new location, Cambridge Golf Course. Find details on both events at www.swiahu.org.
